Integration of solar technologies into buildings in
Mediterranean communities.
SOLAR-BUILD
Description of the project:
The project will analyse
measures for the integration of solar energy systems –
active, passive and photovoltaic – into buildings in
Mediterranean communities to meet their cooling,
electricity and heat needs. The focus will be on
buildings used by public communities in rural
settlements, including schools, primary health care
facilities, small hospitals, local authority buildings.
The analysis will pay attention to social, cultural, and
economic factors as well as technology. The project will
promote exchange of experience between relevant
professional fields and the transfer and adaption of
experience from within EU to Mediterranean countries.
Results and guidance will be disseminated to target
audiences – architects, energy sector,
authorities/administrations (local government,
education, health), local influencers such as
energy/environment/social centres.
Funding of the project:
The Mediterranean Association
of the National Agencies for Energy Conservation (MEDENER)
and the Union of Mediterranean Architects (UMAR)
